We also offer motivational speaking. Founder and CEO, Dr. Shanta Marie Smith is a dynamic and highly sought after motivational speaker, identity-based radical self-care consultant, educational expert and scholar. She delivers powerful and uplifting keynote speeches and presentations centered on self-care for educators who lead. She enjoys sharing her scholarly research and evidence based practices on a vast array of self-care elements that support educators to build their self-efficacy as they implement practical self-care strategies that meet their specialized needs. Dr. Smith has presented her revolutionary framework for self-care for Black Women to audiences throughout the United States at national conferences, public lecture series, annual meetings, school system professional learning sessions. As a trailblazer and a practitioner-researcher she prides herself in exploring innovative pathways to ignite the implementation of radical self-care strategies amongst educators who lead. Dr. Smith believes in the importance of centering wellbeing to support educators as they incorporate sustainable identity-based radical self-care strategies and routines into their lives that serve to mitigate and address work related stressors and enhance the quality of their lives. With over 22 years of experience as a formally trained elementary and middle school teacher, public school administrator, yoga teacher and a B4C Social Emotional Learning Facilitator, Dr. Smith has contributed vastly to the field of education. She is the creator of the podcast “Sista Educator podcast” where she shares her favorite self-care skills, supports and routines while uplifting Black Women educators who lead by spotlighting them in the “You Are More Than Enough” segment of the show. The wisdom that she shares during her speaking engagements has been known to cause individuals to pause and revisit the need to take better care of themselves. Her speeches help to liberate educators from the myth that in order to be a great educator you must work incessantly and put everyone else's needs before your own self-care needs. Dr. Smith encourages educators to examine the ways that they might prioritize themselves and center their self-care needs as a venue to maintain their wellness and increase their longevity in the field of education while they confront the current challenges of leading in public education. This is her heart work. She is available for keynote speaking engagements that motivate educators to use self care as a proactive tool to sustain themselves within the field of education. The COVID 19 pandemic and its byproducts created an enduring and unhealthy impact on educational leaders' health and wellbeing (Brackett, 2020; Ravitch, 2022; Smith, 2021; Superville, 2022; Woo & Steiner, 2022). “The results are really striking that 8 in 10 principals [said they were] experiencing job-related stress,” said Ashley Woo, the lead author of the new report from the RAND Corporation. The study also found that this job-related stress impacted women and those working in high poverty schools the most during the pandemic (Woo & Steiner, 2022; Superville, 2022). We must provide educational leaders with the tools and supports they need to enhance the professional quality of their lives in a manner that will allow them to succeed, thrive and survive as leaders. (Smith, 2021, McKee 2017, Ravitch 2022).
